When i go to a stamp or cover show i look through mixed boxes of covers..my interest is more so foreign than United States..BUT, i if i see a New York town postmark that i am unfamiliar with i usually take it. When i google them i find that most of them are still functioning as is this one from Tribes Hill,N.Y.Image Not Found

The first class rate at this time was 3 cents. The letter was sent Third Class which was half the first class rate.

Whatever Phil.

It must have come from a small town, because normally third class mail was cancelled with a mute cancel (a cancel with no date or time indicated), but the smaller town probably didn't bother with getting an extra mute cancel.

Tribes Hill still has a post office and a population of 1003.
