I am putting together a collection of post boxes on UK stamp issues I am looking also for postcards showing pictures of the post boxes. There are many traditional red pillar boxes but if my history is correct the boxes in Ireland were painted green following Irish Independence in 1922 Also I am told that the Isle of Man painted a few gold for the 2012 Olympics. I am looking for a post card/ stamp/or picture showing any of the mentioned history. Can any stamporama member steer me in the correct direction? Thanks
Yes John I was told that there is one just outside the Palace in London...looking for a picture or postcard......... Bobstamp Excellent Irish stamp...Now the search for one is ON!!!!!
Does anyone out there have an actual photo of a gold pillar box being used that could be posted here on Stamporama?
I have photographs of the red pillar boxes but not a gold one
Thanks
There appear to be several gold pillar box images on Google Image, Cheryl, including a Wikimedia Commons one that could be posted here without fear of copyright issue.
Thankyou I shall check that out...My friend from UK who lives in Canada and went home for a visit took a few pictures for me but no gold pillar boxes were nearby
