The stamps pictured are part of the Greenwich Meridian Centenary series. The one on the right has a distinctly bluer background than the one on the left. I think the one on the left is the correct black color, based on my reading of the 2008 Gibbons GB Concise catalog and 2010 Scott. What would cause the lighter shade, sun or chemical exposure? Or is it something else?
Unfortunately i don't have easy access to a newer SG catalog, and a Google search did not come up with anything.
re: Great Britain Scott 1058 SG 1254 Color Change?
It is possible that the one stamp is a changeling which could be due to exposure to too much sunshine, or, a chemical of some sort was in contact with the stamp?

My wife and I argue about that all the time.
I think several of my shirts are black and she insists they are a deep blue.
Or the opposite.

re: Great Britain Scott 1058 SG 1254 Color Change?
I've only had the stamp a few months so I don't know what it has been exposed to in it's previous 30 years. I'm guessing sun or other light exposure. I'll put it aside in my What Gives? folder.
Thanks!
Geoff
