Hello all! I am a relatively new member, December 2014. I know saying I love this site is quite common, however “I love this site.†It is arguably one of the friendliest stamp sites on the net with nice people, a nice layout and nice services.
I am the proverbial recently retired child of the 50’s and 60’s (can’t you smell the patchouli?) In any event I am a lifelong book collector whose lovely spouse informed him there was no more room in the house, garage, storage unit and air-raid shelter for any more books. Thus, also the proverbial story, I have returned to a childhood love. . . Stamps. I hail from a town which is not in Hawaii called Kaukauna. (Wisconsin), about 10 miles south of a little-bitty Wisconsin town you may have heard of. . . Green Bay.
Anyway I seriously love this site and look forward to more participation. And just in case you were wondering, there really is a Poy Sippi, Wisconsin.
Hey Leon!! Welcome welcome!!! I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Have you decided on a collecting area, or does the entire world beckon? You'll find folks here who collect just about anything imaginable, with some super specialists who can answer some fairly esoteric questions.
We shared your book problem. When we downsized and moved to Florida hubby and I agreed to limit ourselves to 4 full size bookshelf units each. Whew - that was tough! But, with a library within walking distance that desperately needed donations, we were able to meet our goals.

"Just one more small collection, hun, really! LoL "
Welcome Pastor; i think Don has it, hide the books behind the albums. Who'd notice?
I don't collect them (except for the military and postal history ones.... oh, and that nice little book about the French revolution, written in French, in 1796, with the barrel spine, oh and....) I just read them.
David, who tries to bring a little reality back into all that niceness

re: New Member Introduction
@ Sally. That is Toypernia our sealpoint ragdoll. She has three companions, Belvedere (another ragdoll) Jeeves and Jarvis. Of course my wife and I. But their attitude is that we just get in the way.I just hope one night they don't have a meeting and debate whether our services are required.
In my last post I meant "article" not "artical." "Drat these computers. They are so naughty and so complex."
Hmmmm... "esoteric"... I guess that means those of us who collect only one stamp?
When we moved from NJ to PA, we actually bought a much larger home for eventual retirement. Where I had an attic full of collectibles and things in storage, now I have everything where I can get at it, or on display. That worked out when we moved to a lower cost area... house would be double back in NJ and the taxes are lower than NJ!
Welcome, Pastorleon! Oh, what is one more album or book - there's still space on the floor! Last year we donated over 100 books to the local library, all those books that we were 'going to read again'!
