Europe/Russia : The exact year?

The new communist regime uses the previous regime's stamps. However I would like to know more about the story of that stamp. Is it from 1917?1918?or a bit later? michael78651 04 Jul 2013 12:23:01pm	re: The exact year? Russia Scott #219. Issued in 1922. Older stamps were surcharged as it was not possible to produce and print new stamps due to the civil war. When you don't read Russian it doesn't help much!LoL. My mother tong is French, and it doesn't help either! I also have a serie in blocks of the 15 republics of the USSR and I have troubles trying to identify each capital on the stamp blocks????(issued in the 1950's) I will upload them when I get them back from a friend's place.
