Good evening,
I believe this is a Scott#12 De La Rue 1p dark carmine on white paper with watermark #15 anchor. I dont believe this is a Scott#3 Perkins and Bacon printing. Looking for other opinions and conformation.
Thank you in advance,
Ross

re: Need help identifying Cape of Good Hope Triangle
It's really hard to know with the colours because every scanner and monitor shows colours differently. It doesn't look rose. Looks carmine to me but then again could it be brick red? If it's darker than red, I'd agree that it's dark carmine.
Your guess is as good as mine

The stamp appears to be Scott #12. However, it has what looks like a remainder cancel. That will drop the value by around 90%.
Also, counterfeits exist of the stamp. Alot of the stamp looks right, but my information does not cover this stamp. One way to tell would be to check if your stamp is engraved or not. If not, then it is definitely a counterfeit.

Resurrecting an older thread to follow up on what Kelly pointed out regarding color.
Here are two examples of #12 varieties with certificates. The stamps were scanned side by side in one pass. I had thought both were the same color and was surprised when I got the APEX cert for the stamp on the right. So I decided to follow up and get a second opinion from RPS. Even the experts can disagree on stamp colors as indicated here.

I have a confession. I have 150+ triangles; a selected few on covers; multiples and others with sideways watermarks; and I still have problem differentiating the the early & later printings. I can do the A & B plating but the printing differences still elude me.
