The catalog is telling you that a Plate # block of 4 has a value of $3.00, but if that same plate block has never been hinged, then it has a value of $4.50.

The $3.00 value is assuming that the plate block has been hinged.

Check out the INTRODUCTION section in the front of the catalogues. I've been collecting for over 50 years, and I still peruse those pages.

It's like a base stamp and then overprint is added.

That's how I learned to read the prices recently and remember.

Totally agree Amsd. I was in that other chat room. You know....and those guys are rude and not very helpful. IMO.

And this goes out to them.

There are still rare stamps to be found. No question is a dumb question.

And yes in less than a year I found a rarity.

Maybe not RRR maybe but rare. Not 1 but 2.
