re: Russian Year Dates
There are earlier sporadic issues that have specific dates on them going back to 1922.

Would anyone have some example stamp images for the Chita issues from the Far Eastern Republic to share here? I am particularly interested in any of the issues showing a P. 5 P. surcharge on them.
If anyone has a copy of Dr. R. J. Ceresa's monumental work on Russian stamps, a scan of the page(s) associated with these stamp issues would be very helpful as well.
Thanks! I have a stamp's image which I recently acquired through Hipstamp which I posted pictures to the Smithsonian Stamp for Every Country Album and Checklist thread. I believe it to be genuine but some are questioning it because the stamp is heavily counterfeited. I uploaded a 600dpi scan to that thread but am on a different computer without access to the scan image now.
Ceresa does not mention forgeries or differences on this issue.
In fact the section on Chita is rather limited.
He does offer a hand drawn image of the genuine
It should be taken with some reservations as it is only one opinion and a sketch
The key points are the equidistant P's
The serif shapes and the dot sizes
With this, it appears your stamp is like the double overprint I posted
I have not seen a "certified" example
Interesting quandary. I've left messages for the seller and for Greg Mirsky who advertises Russian material in the Scott catalogs to see if additional details, especially any other available high resolution stamp images, could be shared for the Far Eastern Republic "of Siberia" Chita N3 issue with overprint by General Semenov's forces or might be available. Michael Generali points out that there are several images in the Scott catalog of fake stamps. The only online example I have seen so far is from Dr. Cheng Chang's collection at http://www.worldstampalbum.com/ but the image is not of high enough resolution to provide useful guidance plus it would only provide an either or option versus the picture in the Scott catalog. It was a bit disappointing that Dr. Ceresa's books did not have more definitive pictures or commentary on the stamp issues although not that surprising in such a monumental undertaking.
The stamp is a low enough value at $25 catalog that auction catalog results are not that likely to be prevalent either. Yes, definitely a quandary.

re: Russian Year Dates
Thanks for the info on the forgeries. I am working through my Russia right now that is almost complete with the exception of the high value early issues. I am just about to work on this set tonight.
I have another that I'm pretty sure is a forgery from the 1910s empire - I'll scan and post it later to get other's input.
