re: Perfin collectors out there? Could I ask some questions?
I have an interest in perfins. Not doing much with them right now except putting them away for a rainy day. Are you interested in World Wide or just U.S.?
Cover above from Stamp Smarter Control Perfin census. Cover from manufacturer of recreational equipment. Billiards tables, record players, bars and back bars. With the threat of prohibition they expanded their operation to bowling lanes and equipment. Very rare on cover. This pattern is also known on three John Wanamaker covers, April 1910, prior to a known Brunswick cover. Wanamaker had already purchased control pattern 5689, but reported covers show a time gap in this period that may indicate mechanical problem. Perhaps this control pattern was owned by a mailing service and neither Brunswick or Wanamaker actually owned the Schermack Mailing Machine with this control pattern.

Don that is one beautiful cover and I love the history write up. Those control perfins on cover are hard to find.In 30 years of bulk purchases and fast flipping cheap cover boxes I have only found one. And at that it is a stained cover so a difficult sell. I ended up keeping it - glad that I did as I've never found another.
This is what you need to keep an eye out for JohnnyRockets. The odd and unusual.

Nice cover! Here is another example
The hole patter is this
A bit more about your cover... The Babson Brothers were a mail order company supplying the Midwest. This control pattern is also found on many products that they sold. Burlington Watch, Edison Phonograph, Allen Vacuum Cleaner, Anglo American Insurance and The Insurance & Fidelity Co. Counting the several broken pin varieties known, they are most likely responsible for the most known Schermacks with control perforations reported.
There were a total of 117 of this control perf stamp known and only 23 of those on cover; I think yours raises these numbers by 1. I'll pass it along to Curt for inclusion in the census if you don't mind.

Of course - and thanks for the information. If you need a better scan I can provide up to 1200 dpi but my brightness and color settings are off and it would need to be tweaked (a lot). Somewhere around here I have a nice old standalone Epson that dances and sings - just got used to the "all in one" being so handy and the desk space so limited.

Thanks Michael, it looks like it does. Want to go through the written and youtube details before attempting anything - it avoids that empty feeling in the millisecond after you press the button.
