Early reports from some of my customers state that this year's $1.80, and last-year's $2.50 over-sized stamps, resembling hockey cards, do not soak-off.
Can anyone confirm this?

David, i don't know if it shows on the scan..but i do not have to send the hockey player back for a cancel...someone took a mello yellow majic marker to all the stamps on your envelope..so i will put him in the album as is !!
For special cancels on stamps such as these harder to find issues, I drive to the post office armed with a roll of tape, my scissors and some pieces of plastic (like a sheet protector) and cover the stamps once the clerk has cancelled them. Then I ask the clerk to put their 'philatelic mail' band around the envelope. I didn't even know they had such a label until our Postmaster pulled one of these bands out of the drawer one day when I had a stack of philatelic mail being processed. She wrapped the band around the pile of envelopes and put an elastic around the bundle.
Then I dare the postal workers to grab their markers and pens and demolish the stamps!
I do not do this with every piece of mail but will do so if I am putting high value stamps or souvenir sheets on an envelope or if someone specifically asks me to do so.
