A Service Dog gives a person with a disability independence. Never approach, distract or pet a working dog, especially when (s)he is in harness. Never be afraid to ask questions to the handler (parent).

I was at the Canadian Postal Museum today and I was finally able to see my "holy grail" in person. I was actually surprised to see the number of stamps that are missing from the collection - I was expecting it to be complete.

Anywho, this is awesome.

Very nice....I sense your excitement. I'm not informed on Nova Scotia stamps but I would love to go see the amazing collection at APS headquarters or Washington DC. Which ones better. Don't want to go off topic. Will start another if we need to.

re: Nova Scotia Shilling

I also was able to verify which Prince Albert I had. They actually have the 12 pence Canada Province Queen - I really wanted a picture but I couldn't get good aim from my wheelchair - it was too high for me. I had to pull myself up onto my arms to even see it so I can't balance on one arm and take a picture with a camera that needs 2 hands! Lol

I saw the rest of the collection but I bet I stayed drooling over the early Provinces for at least 20 minutes. And to see the Victoria Island and British Columbia stamps were awesome - those are on my "if someone wins a lottery and gives me the money (I don't gamble) list!" Since I don't anticipate that ever happening, at least I got a chance to see them.

It's interesting though, they have the 6 pence yellow green but not the dark green. They also only have this shilling, not the dark one. They mounted the 6 pence on the wrong angle, I'm thinking of going back tmw and telling them that. Their Scott #1 is mint but only 3 margins - mine is used and looks better condition. They also only have one copy of the 3 pence which is sad considering the amount of varieties of shades and the two printings. I did get to see the yellow New Brunswick but couldn't reach to get a good picture. Excellent specimen! They really need to lower the display about one foot (which of course they won't because they just created it) to make it more accessible for people in chairs.

Wow, that's a nice 12d with four nice margins. Great pic, too. That's a really expensive stamp with those margins. Glad you had a good time looking at all those nice Province stamps. Do they have covers there, too?

I have a couple of nice Nova Scotia covers. Hope you like these. I've had them for a long time. They were expensive before but fortunately they have held their value through the years.

Awesome covers. I love the bisects! The 6d looks like a dark green one, eh? I've yet to get my paws on that stamp. I love the shade varieties of the 3d. No they don't have covers and I was disappointed that they didn't have the 3d dark green.

As I'll never be able to afford this stamp, I've managed to find various forgeries. I have one that is unique (in my opinion) - it's a Fournier with a Spiro cancelation!

For the 1s stamp, I would say it is tough to get and expensive. I don't keep a copy myself. I remember about 10 years ago when eBay was a great site for stamps, you could get one for $250. Still high but won't get that price now.

As for the 6d stamp, I have seen faulty copies on eBay go for about $100-$150. Not too bad, maybe a thin, crease or small hidden tear.

I like Nova Scotia stamps but only collect them sparingly.

Lesser known expensive covers from Nova Scotia are the double rate Cents covers with two of the cheaper Nova Scotia Cents Issue stamps on them. Usually, these are rated to go from Canada to the USA. If you find any of these, they'll sell in the $300 range or more depending on the cover.

Try to find one and it's pretty hard.

re: Nova Scotia Shilling

I've collected Canada and Provinces since 1972 and lately decided on a 1988 (arbitrary) cutoff. For N.S. I am missing #'s 2, 6 and 7. I will eventually get number 2 but I think 6 and 7 are out of my price range. The last one I picked up was a gorgeous used copy of #5 with absolutely perfect margins. My dealer charged me just over $900 which is a lot of money, but it looks fantastic in my Harris Album. I have the complete Jubilee series - it took a lot of time and patience and I could only afford to buy the last half of the series used, a shame, but I really couldn't afford mint and they are not too badly post marked. My pride and joy is a cover (partial) with a tied in NS #4 with a #3 bisect with a Liverpool N.S. postmark of 1860 ( my home town )! I would love to finish N.S. but I doubt if that's possible!
